"Lack of Informed Consent and Non-Consensual Sedation in Hospice"

". . . it sounds like there was a lack of informed consent. They're being given tons of sedating medications. All of it is being done without the knowledge of the family or the loved ones. And when you talk about it - we just had somebody that came on today that was kind of blasting us and stating 'We just want our loved ones to suffer and we shouldn't be that way. And it's cruel to make somebody suffer like that.' Well, here's the thing: the people in these stories and the majority (if not all) of the people that are in this 'murder by hospice Facebook group' - their loved ones were not actively dying. A lot of them were not in pain. They did not go into hospice and say 'I want to die - kill me.' They never said that. The drugs, morphine, Ativan, Haldol, Seroquel, Fentanyl - you know, whatever was given to them - they did not consent to that. Nobody asked them, you know, 'We're going to give you this drug and you're not going to really be able to talk to your family anymore. So we just want you to know that this is what's going to happen . . .'"
