"How Financial Incentives Drive Hospice Neglect and Abuse"

". . . well, follow the money. I mean, that's kind of the thing. So if you look at Medicare and Medicaid and they're supposed to have oversight, the OIG is supposed to do oversight. CMS is supposed to oversee them - they're not doing that. And you see cases - for instance, Bradley Harris in Frisco, Texas. They had a case where he was the CEO - he has nothing to do with medical. You don't have to be a medical professional to open up a hospice facility. He was making 'hand over fist' money off of innocent people. And he had doctors that were working for him that he would give bonuses to in order to sign them up because there is a lot of money in hospice. And, you know, you don't have to do anything with them - you just have one or two nurses there and you're giving them a chemical restraint. And so they're just laying in the bed until you give them the 'kill shot.' Then there's not a whole lot you have to do for them. So he had a nurse, Jessica Love. It's a strange name to have - a last name of Love - but that was her name. And he would send her text messages and say 'This person's living too long - do something about it . . ."
